ADCONSULT in Kuala-Lumpur

Meeting with 20+ digital, media, communications & PR agencies in Kuala-Lumpur on October 23rd or 24th, 2023

Hi!

I would like to request a meeting with you at your convenience with a group of 20+ CEOs and owners of independent digital, media, marketing, and advertising agencies from Serbia, Argentina, Russia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan.

We will be visiting Kuala-Lumpur on Monday, October 23rd, and Tuesday, October 24th to connect with colleagues from the Malaysian advertising and creative industry for networking and to explore new business opportunities.

I’m Roman Pivovarov, the managing partner of ADCONSULT. We are a networking project for the advertising, media, and digital industry in Russophone (Russian-speaking) markets, including Russia, ex-USSR countries, Eastern Europe, and other regions with a significant Russian-speaking presence. We bring together approximately 1200 agencies for networking, collaboration, and joint projects.

We are not an official delegation, nor are we connected to the Russian government.

We are simply marketing and advertising professionals seeking new partnerships, exploring new markets for our clients, and looking for innovative solutions.

You could think of us as something akin to an informal club or an association of agency owners.

What’s the benefit?

Here are a few examples of potential business opportunities that could emerge from this meeting:

  • Many Russian companies are now interested in entering and investing in Southeast Asian (SEA) markets. They are actively seeking advertising and marketing partners, which could potentially make your agency a valuable choice. Several agencies in our delegation have clients in their portfolios who are considering expansion into the SEA region in the near future.
  • Numerous adtech, martech, e-commerce, and edtech tools and products initially developed for Russophone markets are now expanding globally. These products are also in search of partners and vendors in the region.
  • Russian agencies with existing international clients are looking for reliable partners, suppliers, and professionals who can assist them with various aspects of their work, particularly for projects within local SEA markets.
  • Perhaps, your clients might be interested in expanding into the Russian or Eastern European markets, especially following the exit of American and Western brands from the Russian market. There are now many vacant niches across various industries.

Of course, there are no guarantees that we will strike immediate business deals the very next day. :)

Nevertheless, our experience of over a decade with similar networking projects in other countries speaks for itself.

Concrete business opportunities often arise from such meetings, where our members find partners, exchange clients, or become vendors for each other's projects.

This is why I'm proposing this brief meeting to explore the opportunities that are currently unfolding for potential partnerships.

Let's meet up and research these possibilities together.

I'm confident that this meeting will be mutually beneficial and lead to exciting prospects.

Please let me know if you are interested.

We will be in Kuala-Lumpur on Monday, October 23rd and Tuesday, October 24th.

We would greatly appreciate the opportunity to meet at your office, which is our preferred choice.

However, if that proves to be challenging, we can try to arrange for a meeting room at a hotel in downtown Kuala-Lumpur on our end, ensuring flexibility in our arrangements.

Please feel free to email me at pivovarov@adconsult.ru, message me on LinkedIn at @romanpivovarov or contact me via WhatsApp / phone at +54 9 11 2680 7568.

I look forward to connecting with you soon.

Q&A

Further details & background of the project

At ADCONSULT, we have a decade-long history of organizing international networking trips.

Since 2012, we have assisted Russian-speaking ad, media, marketing, and digital agencies in establishing connections in over 30 countries.

In recent years, we explored the Southeast Asian region with a delegation consisting of Russian, Ukrainian (yes, it was possible back then), Kazakh, and Azerbaijani agencies. During that visit, we met with agencies in Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Bangkok. This venture proved highly productive, as many of the connections we established blossomed into enduring partnerships among member agencies.

However, in 2023, the tragic political events surrounding Russia's aggression towards Ukraine have left Russian businesses in a difficult situation. This is particularly true for modern digital, creative, and tech projects that now feel unwelcome in a rapidly militarizing country, becoming hostages of the government's political agenda.

As a result, numerous companies, projects, and startups are actively seeking opportunities abroad. Southeast Asia, along with the Middle East and Latin America, ranks high on their list of regions to explore for new business prospects and potential investment locations.

Meanwhile, agencies with Russian roots are poised to introduce innovative adtech, martech, and ecommerce solutions to these markets and are eager to invest in new partnerships. Additionally, they intend to bring their clients with them, fostering collaboration with partner agencies in Southeast Asia.

How do these meetings usually go? What’s the agenda?

Usually, these networking meetings last for approximately two hours.

Here's a suggested, straightforward agenda for our gatherings:

  1. Quick Round of Mutual Introductions: We start with brief introductions, allowing everyone to get to know each other. A concise self-presentation is encouraged, including details about each participating agency's specialization, key activities, and future interests.
  1. Brief Agency Presentation (Hosts): We appreciate it when our hosts provide a brief and informal presentation of their agency. This serves as an excellent opportunity to cover the essentials, such as showcasing your work, philosophy, and approach to clients' tasks.
  1. Sharing Ideas and Proposals: We encourage our participants to share their thoughts and proposals regarding potential joint projects. This can encompass clients interested in market expansion, digital and marketing tools for sharing or launching, and feedback on these ideas.
  1. Exploring Cooperation Opportunities: At this stage, we delve into the grounds for potential cooperation and make notes for future discussions.
  1. Interactive Q&A Session: The bulk of our meeting time is dedicated to a lively Q&A session. We address various topics, including market dynamics, tools, technology, and potential clients. The group typically has numerous questions, and we rely on our moderator, the head of the group, to ensure a mutually beneficial discussion.
  1. Informal Networking: We conclude with informal private chats, allowing for future contacts and connections.

It's important to note that these meetings maintain an informal atmosphere, as we consider each other colleagues.

We are not an official delegation but rather agency leaders, just like you.

We firmly believe that these meetings are incredibly beneficial for all participants and can even be enjoyable and enlightening experiences for the hosting agency or company.

In the words of one of our hosts: "Guys, this has been highly fruitful for us because you've asked questions we might never have considered."

Why do we do this?

The primary objective of these meetings is to foster experience exchange, promote networking, and facilitate connections between Russophone and global advertising businesses. We aim to explore the potential for future collaborations.

During these gatherings, we engage in discussions about advertising approaches, client interactions, management challenges, and virtually any topic of mutual interest. This exchange of ideas and insights proves to be immensely valuable for both our group members and our gracious hosts.

At ADCONSULT, we view our mission in these projects as bringing the Russophone advertising market closer to international standards and facilitating its integration into the global advertising community.

What else we do at ADCONSULT?

International networking tours and trips represent just one facet of our portfolio.

At ADCONSULT, our core mission revolves around serving the "Russophone" (Russian-speaking) advertising, media, digital, and creative media markets. Since 2005, we have been delivering consulting and training expertise to over 1200 advertising agencies and media companies across the region.

Our key activities encompass a wide spectrum, including consulting projects, mergers and acquisitions (M&As), leadership training, and facilitating business networking opportunities for agencies and industry professionals.

Our clientele is diverse, ranging from Moscow-based branches of global giants (such as WPP, Omnicom, IPG, Publicis, Dentsu, Havas, and others) to prominent independent creative studios, small regional advertising agencies, local newspapers, and various media companies.

While we maintain partnerships with major Russian marketing and advertising societies and associations (such as AKAR and ADINDEX), our primary focus lies in driving business development, offering leadership education, and fostering networking opportunities within the advertising and media industry. Our dedication is to support industry growth rather than focusing on market research, ratings, awards, or policymaking and lobbying efforts.
